- We drove back and forth to South Carolina from December 21-23.
- We enjoyed Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at home, December 24-25.
- We left on Christmas Day to go to Washington DC and spent December 25-28.
- We returned in time for a friend's Christmas party on December 28.
Did I have help? Of course. But all the planning (so much planning!) that I did paid off - so I really did my part.
The biggest thing that could have become disastrous was our trip to DC. But we managed to actually do all of the following, mostly on foot: The National Christmas Tree by the White House, the African American Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, Chinatown, Hardrock Cafe, the National Archives, the holiday lights at the National Zoo, the Library of Congress, Union Station, Dupont Circle, the Cheesecake Factory, and seeing a Christmas Carol at Ford's Theater.
We also managed to drop off and pick up Daisy on time from the dog boarding place.
Not to mention that I was responsible for probably 75% of the Christmas gift planning, purchasing and wrapping that was then enjoyed Christmas morning.
I did it.
I'm not usually one to toot my own horn but.... I think we could all benefit from doing that more often. Most of the time, I'm just poo-poo'ing myself, talking to myself like a terrible friend. "You're so stupid" is a refrain in my head probably at least once a day. Not good.
So good job, me! You did it! You pulled it off! (With a bit of help along the way.)
That is one thing I hope to take into 2025: Being more kind to myself, talking to myself like a friend instead of a bully, and recognizing myself for the things that I do right!
After all - to quote RuPaul - "If you can't love yourself, how the hell you gonna to love anybody else? Can I get an Amen?"
